Antic Evergreen grad finds spotlight
The Last Comic Standing might be a Geoduck.
Josh Blue, an alumnus of The Evergreen State College in Olympia, is one of five finalists on the NBC reality show, which airs at 9 tonight.
“So far the show has been awesome and overwhelming,” said Blue, 27, who graduated from Evergreen in 2001. “The overnight fame is nuts – it’s a goal comedians shoot for.”
Because he has cerebral palsy, Blue said Evergreen was a perfect fit for him.
“I’m a nature lover, and the disability-support people were awesome,” he said.

“I don’t want to say I’m good at comedy because then I feel cocky. But being on the show I can say I’m good at it,” he said.
According to his official biography for the TV show, Blue describes his comedy as “spastic and engaging.”
He said he wanted to be part of the show to “make people aware of the fact that people with disabilities can make an impact.”

The geoduck is the official mascot of The Evergreen State College, located at the southernmost tip of Puget Sound in Olympia, Washington. The school’s Latin motto, Omnia Extares (or, “let it all hang out”) is at least partially intended as a tongue-in-cheek reference to the creature’s appearance.
