I like Bill am
Bisexual and what you have written is truly commendable. To
share your thoughts and feelings with the world in the hope of
educating them is a wonderful and extremely important thing to
do. I am currently at University and have gone from my home
town, a small wealthy middle class town to a campus university.
The freedom I feel here is incredible compared with that at
home, and i am truly sorry that Bill was never given the chance
to go somewhere where everyone supports you in whatever you are.
I am in the process of coming out to my family and take the
reactions of you to the news Bill told you to be extremely
positive. Thank you to this website, thank you to what you've done
and Thank you to Bill for believing in himself when he wrote
"This is not my choice. This is not forced upon me. This
just is." |

"bill's
story" has touched me in so many ways there are so many
similarities betweens what has happened to your son as to what
is happening to me.....i myself am i a6 year old gay boy and the
place i live in is not very "accepting" i myslef was
one day walking home form school when i was attacked by a group
of boys from my school i myslef have gone through many years of
people "hating" me just becuase of my sexuality i have
come out to some of my closest friends but i know of some
friends who are extremely homophobic and i have chosen not to
tell them for the obvious reason after reading the horrific
story of what has happened to your son it has touched me and i
feel its now time for me to tell these people the truth that the
thing they hate so much (gay people) is actually one of their
closest friends god bless yourselves and bill

This story was very
moving in so many ways. Iam 16 years old and doing a report for
my theatre class on hate crimes that are related to the Laramie
Project. We are curently doing that show and Bill's stroy has

I am researching for a
college paper. Although my research is suppose to be on a
particular ethnic group I asked if I could investigate hate
crimes against the homosexual community. I am so sorry about
your brother. I hope I am able to do this paper, every story I
read makes me so sad. I often wonder, deep within my heart,
where people get off in hating others. Someday I hope the
church, or at least many members of it, will wake up and learn

After reading Bill's
story, I am extremely touched and i send my condolences to you
and your family. My best friend, Casey, and I are doing a
project for our sociology class on social problems. We decided
to do our project on hate crimes since the number of hate crimes
seems to be exploding in the statistics. We both wear a gay
pride ribbons on our book bags to show that we are in support of
anyone who is gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered or simply
supports homosexuality . We have gotten the chance to meet many
gay people through theatre arts and one of our very good friends
recently came out. Again, we are sorry for your loss and we
comend your efforts to help eliminate homophobia in our society.
Just remember that you are not alone. |

how powerful your's and Bill's story is. It was stories like
these that kind of kept me from committing suicide this year.
Hearing how much pain suicide brings to a community and to

I am working on my
second year in a community college, and am giving a speech, my
choice; about hate crimes.
I have done extened research on the matter because the speech is
45 mins long! I have researched many different hate crimes and
have found that the only way we can prevent them is to teach
others! I will be using this story in my "Effects of
Hate" portion of the speech. I am touched and overwhelmed
that we live in such a shallow world, Thank you for sharing this
story. I have changed a lot of my ways after seeing all the
sadness hate brings, and now understand why my mother would
never even let me say that word. "Hate" In my Mothers
eyes was as bad a the f word, and I never got it until now.
