Comments: I read your story on Mogenic. Before I say anything else, I have never been so touched in all my life by such a beautiful yet tragic story of a life so brave and couragous, even in the suicide, one has to be brave to do that also. I can't relate to the story, indeed not many people can. But although I don't think I will endure such horrific circumstances as Bill did, I am beginning to 'come out'. I am 17 and have told three of my friends so far. Two were shocked, but are completely fine about it, as yet as I haven't spoken to one since I told him two days ago. He can be cruel and if we ever argue, that I know and fear will be his weapon. But the other person I told is gay as well, so he was perfectly fine with it, and happy as well. I'm at college at the moment, and it's a big place, and there's not many people that I know there, so I don't think that there's a lot of room for prejudice, but I'm sure that others have felt the same and experienced immense prejudice. I have great respect for Bill, at such a young age, when prejudices within that age are at an all time high, Bill should be commended for. What I love the most about the story is how his live was not in vain, but has given a new lease of life to thousands of other people, with the extraordinary work you do for us in the minority of the world. I've been inspired recently, and I think I'm going to start something, as summer comes up, to help the gay and lesbian and the rest of the minority groups we have to come together and unite. I was thinking of writing an article to the local paper, I was even thinking of a national one. I feel as though it's time that this country, and yours, got a good shove into the 21st century. We are individuals, and those we say that they are, the straight prejudice people in the world, are lying, because they just follow the herd and try to be who everybody else is. It is only us that are the true individuals, and Bill never went back on that but persisted his independence. I have every respect and admiration for Bill and the rest of the GSLB community. I feel so full of spirit at the moment, and I'm going to try to use it to it's full potential. Thanks for reading, Andrew.

Comments: I am so sorry for your loss and hope Bill's death has had an impact in your community. This brought tears to my eyes since I know and understand what Bill went through except I've been "lucky" that I have not been the direct recipient of a hate crime. I have tried to commit suicide once a little over a year ago but was unsuccessful. Since then I have learned much which I think helps keep me going. I hope that you become an activist if you're not already and help people understand that the only difference between gays and bisexuals VS "straights" is the sexual orientation.

Comments: I am sad to hear of such a story, but people do not understand that one's sexuality is genetically determined...and bi-sexuality is perhaps the most important place to actually be. I am a bi-sexual, although my strongest 'tendency' is toward men. I think that any member of any group, being hounded and given pain, should resort to any method to eliminate such vicious behavior. This is not accepted in any civilized country, but as things have been going in the USA, it's highly questionable if the USA might be called Civilized at any level. Sincerely yours, Robert McFerrin

Comments: Martin Niemoeller once said...

"In Germany they came first for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up."

Bill spoke up, he did what was right, we should all follow the example set by this remarkable young man - intolerance must not be tolerated, we are all human beings and every one of us is in a minority.

Thank you Gabi and Alec for speaking so bravely and so honestly. Bill will be as proud of you, as you so rightly are of him.

God bless you all.

I just came onto your site, and I am so sorry to read about the sad turn of events that changed and ended your son's life.

I hope for the day when all men and women, regardless of their sexual orientation, will stand tall and be accepted for who they are.

Sadly, at my alma mater, several students belonging to a gay and lesbian alliance were also treated with severe prejudice at a recent assembly. They stood their ground, and that's all that matters.

My prayers are with you...

Your work is so important because so many people still suffer from the effects of homophobia in our society.
